We are the Hirwaun and Area Men’s Shed (HAAMS for short), we also go by Hirwaun Men’s Shed and Hirwaun Men’s Sheds and Hirwaun and Area Men’s Sheds. We are a social group who get together every Tuesday and Thursday at the Hirwaun YMCA.
The Shed was launched in late 2016 with nearly a dozen members so far. We are based on the Men’s Sheds movement we are located in Hirwaun in South Wales and serve the local area.
There are different types of Men’s Sheds around the world for different purposes, some specialize in reducing feelings of loneliness and isolation in older men especially those who are retired, single etc while others are activity based for healthy lifestyles and social settings.
The Hirwaun Shed is mostly made up of older men of retirement age yet still want to do things as well as learning new skills since we believe there is never a age limit to learn something new.
